The First year honors admission process of Jagannath University (JnU) for 2012-13 academic session will begin from August 26, 2012 and the applicants will be able to submit their application to JnU through mobile phone SMS service.
The decision will be finalized in the academic council meeting that will be held on August 6, 2012 at the university administrative building under the presidency of vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed.
This year according to the university authority the admission tests will be held against 2,755 seats of 28 departments under four faculties including Science (unit A), Arts (unit B), Commerce (unit C) and Social Science (unit D). The decision of extending the examination seat will be decided later.
Physics, Chemistry, Math, Geology, Botany, Geography, Psychology, Computer Science, Microbiology and Pharmacy departments are under unit A while Bangla, English, History, Islamic History and Culture, Islamic Studies, Philosophy and Law are under unit B. Accounting, Management, Finance and Marketing are under unit C while Economics, Sociology, Social work, Political Science, Anthropology and Journalism are under the unit D.
The admission seekers would be able to buy the admission forms from August 26, 2012 to September 15, 2012 through mobile phone SMS service. One needs a Teletalk Prepaid connection for the purpose.
Applicants have to type on their mobile phone ‘JNU’, space, the first three letters of the educational board of their HSC examination, space, HSC roll number, space, passing year, space, desired unit (A, B, C or D) and send the message to 16222.
If the information is correct, a confirmation SMS will be sent with the name of applicant, admission fee and a valid pin number. To complete the application process, one needs to send another SMS to 16222 typing ‘JNU’ followed by space, yes, space, and contact number.
Tk 350 will be deducted from the account and confirmation message, mentioning the applicants roll number, will be received. Admission seekers are advised to bring two passport-size photographs only on the date of examination.
The admission tests will start on October 12, 2012 by holding the ‘Ka’ unit (science faculty) exam. Admission test under ‘Kha’ unit (arts faculties) will be held on October 19, 2012; ‘Ga’ unit (business studies faculty) on November 2, 2012 and ‘Gha’ unit (changing discipline) on November 9, 2012.
The rules for admission test will be similar like previous. The tests will be based on multiple choice question (MCQ).
The score obtained by the students of the GPA (grade point average) system will be multiplied by six in SSC and 10 in HSC. The students who have obtained GPA 7.5 in SSC and HSC combined will qualify for Ka and Ga units, while the Kha and Gha unit admission seekers will have to score GPA 7.0 in SSC and HSC combined. But students having GPA below 3.0 in any examination will be disqualified form the examination.
